ISL 2021-22: Top 10 Performers of the Week

As a week of ISL action ends here and the next starts, this is the third part of the series where we bring to you the top ten performers of the week.

Adrian Luna 

Adrian Luna! Needs no introduction, that little magician from Uruguay. Luna was all over the field running riot from box to box. It’s not wrong if we say that he covered every blade of grass on the field. His defense splitting passes are drool-worthy. And when an intelligent striker like Alvaro Vasquez paired up with him, it was very easy to convert it into a goal and the second goal from Kerala Blasters was also from a defense splitting pass of Adrian. No more a surprise. His work rate is immense and his commitment to the team is impressive. Let’s take a look at his numbers.

Sahal Abdul Samad 

Sahal is that kind of player you might not understand the importance of while he is on the pitch but will realize the void his absence leaves on the pitch. He was an important balance between the defence and attack of KBFC against Odisha FC. He contributed equally to both ends and let’s take a look at his numbers.

Greg Stewart 

Greg Stewart was very crucial to Jamshedpur FC as they clinched a 2-1 victory over ATK Mohun Bagan FC. Even without a Goal or assist he’s the highest-rated player of matchday two of this week. Greg contributed to both sides of the team. Absolutely phenomenal on attack and defense. Let’s look at his contributions in numbers.

Jitendra Singh

Very Similar to the performance of Greg Stewart Jitendra also ran the show for Jamshedpur FC in the midfield. He didn’t leave any corner of the field untouched. He has won all of the ground duels and has made two clearances which made Jamshedpur FC hold on to the narrow lead. Also registered one assist and a key pass.

Alberto Noguera 

Alberto Noguera ruled the game against the Torchbearers and was the decisive factor in the first win in the Hero ISL season 8. Noguera bagged two goals and also the Hero of the Match award. Let’s look at his contributions in numbers and it’s obvious that FC Goa has a beast with them.

Ashish Rai 

Ashish Rai was a defensive wall for Hyderabad FC against Bengaluru FC and he’s arguably one of the best fullbacks in India. He kept Sunil Chhetri, Jayesh and Ashique silent throughout the game. In numbers, he had quite a good game.

Cassio Gabriel 

Cassie Gabriel the Brazilian with a magic wand mesmerized everyone including his opponents as Mumbai city won 4-2 against the red miners. He bagged a goal and two assists and Hero of the match award match game in numbers

Jonathas 

Jonathas broke the curse finally and scored his maiden ISL goal to lead Odisha FC to victory against the highlanders. Even though we can’t call it a dominating performance from the Brazilian, he did what he was assigned to do is that scoring goals. He converted the chance he got to give Odisha the advantage.

Vladimir Koman 

The Hungarian Wizard of Chennaiyin FC kept the marina machans unbeaten in the league as he bagged a goal and completely dominated the midfield. Roman scored a sublime goal and has won most of the ground duels. He also has 76% passing accuracy.

Devendra Dhaku Murgaokar 

Devendra went under the radar as the youngster Neil got most of the attention before the season. Just like Jonathas, we can’t say that he had a dominant game but he scored when it mattered the most as FC Goa were down to 10 men against Bengaluru FC and leading them to glory.
