Indian Super League side Northeast United FC is all set to complete the signing of Indian left-back Buanthanglun Samte on a multi-year deal, Halfway Football has learned.
“Buanthanglun Samte had attracted interest from multiple ISL sides. Northeast United is now successful in convincing him. He will sign a three-year contract. Final paperwork pending,” a source tracking the developments told Halfway Football.
The 23-year-old was part of FC Pune City youth and reserve teams. In 2018, Samte joined ATK and was part of their reserves side for two years.
Ahead of the 2021-22 season, he joined I-League side TRAU FC. Since joining the club, he played more than 30 matches, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
The left-back who can also operate as a centre-back, Buanthanglun Samte will be a great addition to NorthEast United’s backline. Even though the defender was linked with a move to other ISL sides, NEUFC finally managed to rope in the talented youngster.
