Mohammedan SC set to sign Lalbiakhlua Jongte on a loan deal

Hyderabad FC goalkeeper Lalbiakhlua Jongte, popularly known as Biaka, is all set to sign for Mohammedan SC on a season-long loan deal, Halfway Football can exclusively confirm.

Biaka has agreed to sign a multi-year contract extension with Hyderabad FC and move to Mohammedan SC on a loan deal for the upcoming I-League season,” a source informed Halfway Football.

20-year-old shot-stopper joined Hyderabad FC in 2020, along with Rohit Danu and Akash Mishra from Indian Arrows. He played nine matches for Arrows in the 2019-20 I-League campaign.

Biaka was a regular starter for the Indian national team in various age groups. He helped India’s U-15 side to clinch the SAFF Championship title in 2017. He was also a part of the Indian squad that reached the quarterfinals of the AFC U16 Championship in 2018.

The Mizoram-born goalkeeper won “Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament” in the Four Nation Tournament organized in Serbia, representing the U-16 Indian team. In 2019, he again won SAFF Championship for the U-19 side.

Biaka was never a first-choice goalkeeper at Hyderabad FC for the last three years. His only ISL appearance came last season against Jamshedpur FC, where the team lost 2-3. He played five Durand Cup matches for the Nizams across two seasons. He appeared in seven games in the RF Developmental League last season and kept two clean sheets.

Biaka will be hoping to get into the Mohammedan SC starting line-up for the next season and earn some valuable experience playing for the Kolkata-side.
