Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters FC are in talks with right-back Shubham Sarangi from Odisha FC for a possible transfer, Halfway Football can confirm
“Kerala Blasters are in talks with Shubham Sarangi for a free transfer as his contract ends this summer,” a source close to the development has confirmed.
The 22-year-old started his football journey with AIFF Elite Academy before joining Delhi Dynamos in 2018. After playing for Delhi for two seasons, Sarangi joined Odisha FC in 2020 and has been a key player for them ever since. He has played more than 50 matches combined for both Delhi and Odisha.
Sarangi’s contract with Odisha FC expires in May 2023, and with Kerala Blasters showing interest in the young fullback, a possible move to the southern side could be on the cards.
On the other side, Kerala Blasters are keen to sign new full backs for the coming seasons as Harmanjot Khabra and Jessel Carneiro has already left the club with Nishu Kumar’s future in doubt.
If the transfer goes through, it will be interesting to see how Sarangi adapts to the new surroundings and how he performs for his new club in the upcoming seasons of the Indian Super League.
