ISL: Borja Herrera set to join FC Goa

Spanish midfielder Borja Herrera is set to join Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Goa on a one-year deal, Halfway Football can confirm. The 27-year-old, who can play as a midfielder in multiple positions, spent last season with Hyderabad FC, where he made 30 appearances for the Nizams.

Herrera started his career at Racing Santander in 2015, before moving to CD Numancia in 2017. He then had a short spell at Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Israel before joining Hyderabad FC ahead of the 2022-23 ISL season.

Herrera is a technically gifted midfielder who is known for his passing and dribbling skills. He is also a good crosser of the ball and has the ability to score goals from outside the box.

Herrera to FC Goa is not at all an unexpected movement as former Hyderabad FC coach Manolo Marquez is expected to join the Gaurs ahead of the upcoming season.

His arrival at FC Goa will be a major boost for the club, who are looking to improve on their performance last season, when they finished seventh in the league. Herrera will add creativity and attacking flair to the Gaurs midfield, and he will be expected to help them challenge for the title in the upcoming season.
