Odisha FC in talks to sign three-time ISL Shield winner Ahmed Jahouh

In what could potentially be a significant coup for Odisha FC, the club is currently engaged in advanced negotiations to secure the services of midfield maestro Ahmed Jahouh, Halfway Football can confirm. The experienced 34-year-old will be a free agent this summer, when his contract with ISL League Shield Winners Mumbai City FC expires.

Odisha FC is currently in advanced stages of discussions to sign Ahmed Jahouh. Jahouh was offered an extension by Mumbai City and other ISL clubs was also interested in him,” a source tracking the developments informed Halfway Football.

Jahouh has been an influential figure in the Indian Super League (ISL) over the past seasons, making a name for himself as one of the most accompished and reliable defensive midfielders in the league. His ability to break up opposition attacks, intercept passes, and distribute the ball with precision has made him a highly sought-after player.

The Moroccan joined FC Goa in the 2017-18 season and spent three years with the Gaurs. He moved to Mumbai City FC before the start of 2019-20 season. Since then, he has been an integral part of the team’s success, helping them secure the coveted ISL title and the League Winners’ Shield in the 2020-2021 season.

Jahouh has played more than 100 matches in the ISL and also took part in the AFC Champions League for Mumbai City FC. He is one of the few players who have won three ISL League Winners’ Shield medals.

With his contract at Mumbai City FC nearing its expiration, Odisha FC has emerged as the frontrunner to secure Jahouh’s signature. The club’s management is eager to bolster their squad for the upcoming season and views Jahouh as a key addition who can bring invaluable experience and leadership to their midfield.

As the man who bought Jahouh to India, Sergio Lobera, expected to be at the helm at Odisha FC, this will be his second reunion with the Spanish tactician. After winning the Super Cup title, the Juggernauts will be hoping to shine under Lobera in Asia and in the Indian subcontinent.
