SC East Bengal have appointed Joseph Ronald D’Angelus as head of sports science for the Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 season, it was announced on Saturday.
Joseph was with the Bhutan football federation as head of sports science before joining SC East Bengal. He will also be heading physiotherapy and analysis departments.
The 48-year old Malaysian-born has worked extensively in his country with the likes of PJ City FC and Negeri Sembilan FA also working in Myanmar with Hantharwady United FC.
Joseph was also with Mohun Bagan AC as fitness coach in 2012.

“I am happy to be associated with SC East Bengal. It is a club with so much history and working here will help me grow. I believe in pushing athletes out of their comfort zone and taking them to the next level physically. I will also work on different rehabilitation methods to expedite players’ recovery from injuries,” said Joseph, who has a South Asian Games silver medal in 2019. “I have worked with many experienced head coaches like Vincent Subramaniam, E.Elavarasan, P.N. Sivaji, Rene Desayee, Karim Bencherifa, Jorg Stenibrunner, K.Devan, Mohd Azrai Khor, Myo Hlaing Win and Mario Lemos,” he added.
The Red-And-Gold Brigade will face Jamshedpur FC in their opening game of the Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 season, on November 21 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium.
