I-League side Mohammedan SC has roped in young Indian forwards Beneston Barretto and David Lalhlansanga, Halfway Football can exclusively confirm.
“Beneston Barretto from Dempo and David Lalhlansanga from Aizawl FC have signed for Mohammedan SC, on a one-year deal,” a source informed Halfway Football.
The Goan-born striker Beneston Barretto started his career playing for few Goan clubs including Sporting Club de Goa, Vasco SC and Guardian Angel SC. In 2021, he was signed by I-League champions Gokulam Kerala FC. He played nine matches for the Malabarians and was dropped to their B team in 2022.
The 25-year-old joined Dempo SC in the 2023 January transfer window. He worn Dempo SC colors for eight matches in the I-League Second Division, scored three goals.
The 21-year-old striker David Lalhlansanga, who can also operate on the wings joined the senior team of Aizawl FC in 2019. His debut in the I-League came in the 2020-21 season against Mohammedan SC.
In the 2022-23 season, the Manipur-born youngster played 13 matches across all the competitions, scoring three goals and assisting another two. During his stint with Aizawl FC, he has played more than 30 matches and has scored six goals.
The addition of both of these youngsters will provide more depth and stability in the striking department of Mohammedan SC.
